This 6-module course is designed to help dogs of all ages and their people live together happily! These fun, safe, and flexible classes will ensure that:
The course also includes dog socialization sessions which are planned and scheduled separately from formal training classes. All families will receive a clicker and training manual after orientation and graduate with a certificate upon completion.
The critical socialization period in a dog’s life occurs primarily before they reach 16 weeks of age. During this time, it is essential for your dog to have positive experiences with a wide range of different stimuli such as other animals, people, places, sounds, etc. However, puppies without complete vaccination should not be taken to parks or exposed to unfamiliar adult dogs.
The Foundations Program is the perfect solution! It provides a structured way to deliver novel situations, build self-confidence, teach basic skills, and set future training up for success.
For dogs 5 months and older, the Foundations program provides equal opportunity to unlearn undesirable habits as forming desired ones. By understanding and applying modern positive reinforcement training techniques, you will be able to communicate effectively with your dog and build a better relationship with them.
Whether or not your dog has previous training experience, the Foundations Program is guaranteed to deliver knowledge and skills to all participants!
Orientation (online)- Owners meet the trainer to establish a daily care and training routine. Subjects discussed include: nutrition, house training, handling, ‘yes’ and ‘no’ conditioning, clicker mechanics, reinforcement, socialization, desensitization, and exercise. A demonstration on shaping a basic behaviour will show dog families how operant conditioning works.
